Säätötuli’s Biocont Jumbo (also known as Boilercont Jumbo) is a prefabricated biomass heating plant with great silo capacity and boiler output. Biocont Jumbo has a built-in biomass silo with hydraulically operated roof, and a boiler-room part including the hydronic biomass boiler, automation and electrical panels and all the piping you would expect to find inside a modern boiler room. It can be fitted with up to 4 inlet and outlet tubes with pumps for the heat networks the boiler plant will be connected to.

The BioCont Jumbo is designed with a roof structure that is separate from the building structure. That way it is easy to move on a flatbed trailer without having trouble with height limitation on the road network.
Technical specifications of the Biocont Jumbo prefabricated biomass heating plant
682,000 BTU/hr (200 kW)
1,024,000 BTU/hr (300 kW)
1,365,000 BTU/hr (400 kW)
1,706,000 BTU/hr (500 kW)
Säätötuli C210
Basic automation with intuitive touch-screen software.
The user can chose the language for the software (English, French and other choices available).
Säätötuli C210 modulating
Same features as the C210, but adds modulation of the output of the burner (idle/run on the basic model).
All C210 automations can be upgraded with a GSM modem to send alerts by text messages to cellular phones.
Säätötuli C570E
Professional automation with large 5.7 inch color display and intuitive controlling software.
C570E can store different “recipes” for different kind of biomass fuels. That way the new settings are only a button away when switching from one fuel to another (for example from woodchips to pellets).
Please note that regional requirements may affect the choice of automation, like in Ontario where idle-mode is forbidden for biomass boilers and a data recorder has to be added.
Automatic ash removal with two augers
This system will evacuate the ashes from the firebox to a box outside of the containerised biomass plant.
Automatic flue gas extractor
Having a chimney with a good draft is an essential feature on a biomass boiler for good combustion and security. All our containerised biomass heating plants are always equipped with an automated flue gas extractor that will set the draft in real-time according to the pressure inside the firebox of the boiler.
Security PLUS pack or Aeromag aerosol extinguisher
The Security PLUS pack consists of two sprinklers placed in the feeding augers between the silo and the boiler. The sprinklers are connected to automated mechanical valves that will open the waterflow if the sensor on the auger detects a temperature raise indicating that fire is trying to get from the burner to the silo.
The Security PLUS pack is replaced by Aeromag aerosol extinguishers if the customer is using pellets. Water would expand the size of the wood pellets more than double resulting in jammed augers.
Drop feeder
For increased backfire security, the auger coming from the silo and the auger going in the burner are separated by a drop feeder. The drop feeder will simply drop the biomass fuel coming from the silo to the burner auger. Automation controls a sensor placed on the silo auger. If the temperature of the silo auger raises to an abnormal level, the drop feeder will stop the silo auger and run the burner auger in order to create an empty space between the firebox and the fuel from the silo.
Multi-cyclone
The multi-cyclone helps to clean the flue gas from particulate matter. It is a simple and easy-to-maintain solution that will ensure that your biomass boiler plant will meet the environmental regulations. Säätötuli will be happy to assist you to select the best flue gas cleaning solution depending on your local regulations. The multi-cyclone is mounted in a box outside the Biocont Jumbo prefabricated boiler plant.
Automatic exchanger-tube cleaning
The tubes in the heat-exchanger of the boiler will accumulate dust during the use of your biomass boiler. Depending on the fuel you use, the cleaning requirement for these tubes can be quite high. The automatic tube cleaning system will help you with this task by adding moving spring-like elements in the tubes to maintain them as clean as possible.
Hydraulic lock feeder
The hydraulic lock feeder is like a drop feeder between the auger from the silo and the auger that goes in the burner, but it has an additional hydraulically operated lid to have a real physical separation between the silo and the burner. Hydraulic lock feeder can be equipped with two lids. In that case one of them is always closed for maximum security on your biomass boiler plant.
Energy meter
If you want to know your exact heat consumption, or if you want to sell the BTUs your Biocont Export produces, the containerised heating plant can be equipped with an energy meter.
External dimensions of the Biocont Jumbo prefabricated boiler plant
Like all Säätötuli’s prefabricated biomass plants, the Biocont Jumbo is made with an external structure made of tubular steel and fire-resistant sandwich-panel cladding and roof. Colors can be chosen and it is possible to add an additional paneling outside for decorative purposes. The height of the roof of the biomass silo on the Biocont Jumbo can be extended for extra biomass fuel storage.
Internal lay-out
The Biocont Jumbo is a compact prefabricated heating system divided in two parts.
On one side, there is the biomass fuel silo with:
- A hydraulically operated roof for filling the silo with biomass fuel.
- A Säätötuli Hydrobar silo discharger with hydraulic scrapers.
- A service hatch to access under the Hydrobar for maintenance operations.
Biocont Jumbo exists with two different heights for the fuel silo part giving the silo a volume up to 35 cubic meters. For security, there is a manual valve inside the boiler-room side to flood the silo with water.
On the other side, there is the boiler-room side with:
- A Säätötuli hydronic biomass boiler.
- Main electrical panel.
- Automation panel with color touch-screen input.
- Piping for the boiler and up to the heat-network’s inlets and outlets.
- Pumps, expansion tanks and all the accessories for the boiler.
Biomass silo on Biocont Jumbo
The biomass silo on the Biocont Jumbo prefabricated biomass heating plant is located at one end of the container. It has a hydraulically operated roof to help the filling-up operation. The ideal solution is to install this prefabricated biomass plant on a hillside in order to make a platform making it easy to dump fuel inside the silo. A ramp can also be made, but it is important in that case to take into account the freezing conditions and not to build a ramp with a deep incline.

Below you can see some examples on how you can fill-up the silo on a Biocont Jumbo prefabricated biomass heating plant.

The Biocont Jumbo can be simply installed on the ground and filled with any kind of loader equipment. On the picture above, a tractor loader is used to fill the silo with woodchips.

The Biocont Jumbo can be equipped with additional bulk pellet delivery tubes. This means that the silo can be filled with pellets by a blower truck. The red tube on the picture above is the inlet for the pellet blower. On the other side of the prefabricated biomass plant is another tube to let out the pressure during filling. That tube has a bag to collect all the dust that may be blown away during the filling operation.

The ideal solution is to install the prefabricated Jumbo container on a hillside like on the picture above. In that case, the delivery can be easily made with a dumper trailer or a moving floor trailer.
Using a tractor with a loader for the deliveries is always a good idea. If the quantity of biomass fuel exceeds what can be directly dumped in the silo, the loader can be used to push the fuel upwards and fill the silo at its maximum capacity.
